Frequently Asked Questions
Booking a Consultation
Because I understand how important it is to feel comfortable with your therapist, I offer a complimentary 15-minute introductory phone consultation to understand our goodness of fit and to answer any questions you may have. Please complete the Contact form or email me by clicking the mail icon at the bottom of this page.
The First Appointment
Upon scheduling, I will send you important paperwork to complete. Please read it carefully, as it covers practice policies, confidentiality, and other essential information.

During our first session, I will conduct a thorough intake, gathering information about what brings you to therapy, why now, and what you hope to achieve. This intake process may extend over the first 2-3 appointments. After approximately three sessions, we will check in to discuss how things are going. Once you are more familiar with my practice, we can evaluate if it feels like the right match for you.
Where and How Often We Will Meet
My practice offers both in-person and virtual sessions. The office is located in the Washington Square area of Brookline, right off the Green Line, with ample street parking available. Please note that the office is on the 3rd floor, and there is limited accessibility for those with disabilities. If in-person sessions are necessary for you, please let me know, as my availability for these is limited. For those who prefer telehealth, I strongly recommend meeting at least once in person, if feasible.

Session lengths vary based on need, with individual sessions being either 45 or 55 minutes. Couples counseling sessions are always 55 minutes, with an option to extend to 75 minutes if clinically warranted.
Billing Through Insurance & Self-Pay
I accept private pay and also participate with three insurance companies. Currently, I am in-network with UnitedHealthcare and Aetna, and am also paneled with the UHR Student Resources Group, an insurance specific to Boston College students.
If your policy includes out-of-network health benefits, you may be eligible for reimbursement for our sessions. In such cases, I will provide you with a statement of services, also known as a superbill, which you can submit to your insurance for reimbursement. Please contact your insurance provider to understand the specifics of your mental health coverage by asking the following questions:

-
Do I have out-of-network behavioral health benefits?
-
What is my deductible?
-
What percentage of the psychologist’s fees will be reimbursed for outpatient psychotherapy?
-
Is there a session limit for behavioral health services?
-
What is the allowed amount for CPT 90834 / 90837? (These are the billing codes for 45 and 55-minute psychotherapy sessions).
